Dear Evan Hansen at Sheas Performing Arts Center
Dear Evan Hansen is a contemporary musical about isolation, grief, identity and the longing to feel connected. With a book by Steven Levenson and music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the story follows high school senior Evan Hansen as a lie grows out of a misunderstanding after the death of a classmate. Its emotional subject matter and memorable songs have helped the musical connect with audiences well beyond its Broadway run.
The show premiered at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., in 2015, moved to Broadway in 2016 and received six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Its honors also include a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Familiar songs include “Waving Through a Window,” “For Forever,” “Sincerely, Me” and “You Will Be Found,” an anthem of hope and connection.
